What’s a Seed Lending Library?

Come to the Perth And District Union Public Library, Perth, Ontario and “borrow” seeds for free!   You may be asking “How can you ‘borrow’ seeds?” The basic idea is that you plant the seed, let them grow and let some of the plants go to seed.  Return some of these next generation seeds for others to borrow.

We encourage home gardeners to save seeds from the “super easy” plants: tomatoes, lettuce, beans, peas and peppers. (some extra know-how needed for peppers )  Do not save seeds from the advanced drawer until you have more experience seed saving.  You do not need to have a Perth And District Union Library card to use the seed library. We are hoping to provide free classes on organic gardening, seed starting and seed saving.

    • We will have a list to share by the end of this week (April 19th). The Library would love any of your seeds.
